"OOO!"
Well, this was a pleasant surprise.
With the recent influx of nostalgia-driven resurrections, it's nice to see one of them get it right.
It's also nice to see that the gang still resides in the timeless good old times; that Charlie Brown is still flying kites, Schroeder is still very much into Beethoven, and Lucy is still charging a meager five cents for psychiatric help. No smartphones, no computers, no video games. Just pen pals, typewriters, and snow days.
This is one of those movies that you have to show to every kid you know. This is one of those movies that's just impossible not to like. Young or old, fan or not, this film…

In the span of one month, two things I loved as a child have been rebooted and very well I must say. "The Peanuts Movie" is an absolute delight. It sticks very well to the formula of the old Charles Schulz entries, keeping the same old humor you remember (If you're familiar with him), and leaving out all of the humor that ruins the bad animation movies we get a lot these days. I laughed so hard so much during this movie and I had a really great time. A lot better than I was expecting (Wasn't fond of the trailers). Definitely go.

I went to the movie theater dressed as Pig-Pen. It's a good way to make sure no loud kids sit near you.

I have dog germs!
The Peanuts Movie is less an original film than it is an extension of one of the many Schulz-produced short films. It contains all of the essential elements from those shorts, and expounds upon them in their own unique way, all while coated in a beautiful animation reminiscent of the classic cartoon characters.
Many people may be disappointed not to find something entirely new in this film, but in essence, it really is a wonderful trip down memory lane. I watched all of the Peanuts holiday specials when they aired on TV, and every time I loved them more and more. There's a certain refined humor in Peanuts that is contained in this film as…

It is impossible to watch this movie without smiling because of the pure joy it's characters and animation style bring.
If you are able to watch this without smiling. Who hurt you?

Apart from Snoopy's dragged on subplot with the Red Baron, it captures the layback style of Peanuts and stays true to what it is instead of painfully modernized it.

kino for me and me only
sorry I just love the Peanuts franchise as a whole overall. The five stars is obviously for an obsession like this ha
Snoopy = best good boi

The Peanuts Movie is bizarre! I vaguely remember thinking that there was no need for this film when it came out (unless you have kids and there's nothing else appropriate at the theater).
There's better animation than the original cartoon, but overall, it's just mid with some amusing things. Lucy is the master of the triple axel (à la Tonya Harding) which is just wild! I'll always love Snoopy flying his doghouse.
I remember I wrote Snoopy a fan letter when I was 5 or 6 years-old. He had a "mailbox" at Knott's Berry Farm (which I'm not sure if anyone ever checked) and I made sure to painstakingly write the letter and drop it off for him. I really…

WHAT A FAT MOOD -
It's failure to be the kind of Peanuts movie we all want bothered me a lot more this time. From the generic kid movie chase scenes of the Red Baron fantasy sequences (compare them to the haunting and abstract ones in The Great Pumpkin) to the fact that Charlie Brown is defined as not just not-a-loser, but as a winner, his faults only the result of his good qualities, rather than the whims of a dynamically oppressive universe (even the Kite-Eating Tree helps him!).
Peanuts has always been more saccharine than essay-writers want us to believe, but this goes beyond "Happiness is a Warm Puppy" into fundamental betrayal territory. We love Charlie Brown because the world often feels as cruel…

I'd probably adore this movie a lot more if it was structured better and the soundtrack wasn't actual dogshit. I HATE how kids movies have to have the most generic garbage pop songs that make my ears bleed. But goddamn it, this movie has too many good things to make me hate it.
A lot of the callbacks to the original comic strips and tv specials are a tad distracting, but some are nice and funny. Honestly the thing that works the best in this movie is the humor, it's insanely funny, this is probably the hardest I've laughed watching something Charlie Brown related.
But probably my biggest praise for this movie is how it finally stops mercilessly shitting on…
